Manufacturing Engineer Mapleton, IL The client is one of the largest in the United States and home to the largest core making machine in the world! Working at the foundry is hard work that demands focus and safety, quality, and commitment to helping our customers build a better world. With over 800 employees at the foundry, we are looking for someone who can support process development projects for the continuous improvement of the safety, quality, velocity and cost of manufacturing. Responsibilities The role will be a Manufacturing Engineer at the Mapleton Foundry, which includes: • Direct operations day-to-day process support of melting department. • Continuous process improvement projects implementing automation and robotics. • Support operations continuous improvement (CI cards) to achieve safety goals, capacity requirements, product cost and quality commitments. • The position manages the completion of its own work assignments and coordinates work with others. • The position is challenged to quickly identify and utilize 6 sigma problem solving methodology resolving problems. • This position will run capital projects for new equipment installations. Degree Requirement This position requires a bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent experience. Top Candidates May Have • Equipment automation and controls experience. Skill Descriptors Judgment and Decision Making: Level Extensive Experience Knowledge of the decision-making process; ability to carefully evaluate the impact of emerging business situations and choose the best path forward communicating actions and activities that maximize organizational performance. Project Management: Level Basic Understanding Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives. Manufacturing Process Design and Development: Level Basic Understanding Knowledge of how to develop or design a manufacturing process; ability to establish and determine which processes and parameters should be opted to improve functionality and costs. Change Control - MFG: Level Basic Understanding Knowledge of the processes and procedures by which a change is identified, evaluated, approved, monitored and documented; ability to manage changes in the production environment and processes effectively. Lean Manufacturing: Level Working Knowledge Knowledge of the philosophy, principles and implementation approaches of lean manufacturing; ability to integrate and implement lean manufacturing philosophy into existing production and management processes.
