Position: Compliance Officer (HSC 2) DOH8806 Description This hybrid, full-time, permanent Health Services Consultant 2 (HSC 2) position is located at the Tumwater, WA DOH office. The incumbent may be required to work on-site for the duration of the initial training period, and then 2 days per week thereafter depending on business need. Join the Office of Investigative and Legal Services (OILS) as a Compliance Officer , where you will perform complex compliance monitoring activities for regulated health professionals to ensure the successful completion of the sanctions placed on their license through a legal order. You’ll regularly and accurately analyze and assess respondents’ compliance with legal orders and make appropriate decisions for any actions required. As a journey-level professional and designated technical specialist, you’ll help us support critical health services in Washington by monitoring and assisting respondents in complying with the terms and conditions placed upon their credentials. Our office protects the public health and safety of the people of Washington, by collecting information, investigating complaints, and taking enforcement action against health care providers and facilities who provide substandard care or commit unprofessional conduct. Key Responsibilities • Manage and prioritize compliance caseload activities and workload to ensure the respondents' timely completion of sanctions, reinstatement requirements and any additional actions necessary for respondents under disciplinary orders. • Communicate with respondents about the sanctions and due dates in the order; provide timely reminders of due items; receive and evaluate documentation of completed sanctions; request and forward audit findings and supervisor reports to the disciplining authority for review and comment, and work with courts to obtain documentation of any probation requirements. • Utilize HSQA’s database (currently ILRS), electronic files and MS Outlook to track sanction compliance & non-compliance. Accurately and timely record case-specific data for office reporting needs. • Present cases to the disciplining authority for decisions regarding non-compliance, modification, reinstatement, or release. • Provide technical assistance on compliance activities to the disciplining authority, program staff, staff attorneys, case managers and investigators, impaired practitioner monitoring programs, assistant attorneys general, and other DOH staff. • Provide feedback to staff attorneys and paralegals on complex draft orders and provide recommendations on sanction language to ensure they are enforceable, compliable, and protect the public. • Assist suspended respondents in completing the sanctions required for reinstatement and notify the reinstatement coordinator when sanctions are completed. • Develop and maintain a list of pre-approved continuing education (CE) course skills and assessment providers, and other applicable education-related sanctions for disciplining authorities. Conduct research for respondents, staff attorneys, and programs on available CE courses that appear to meet the CE requirement sanction and provide findings to the requestor. • Testify at hearings before health law judges on the compliance status of non-compliant respondents or when requests for modification are presented at a hearing.
