The Production Planner is responsible for coordinating, scheduling, and monitoring the flow of materials and production activities to ensure that customer orders are completed on time, within budget, and according to quality standards. This role works closely with operations, procurement, engineering, and logistics to optimize production efficiency and minimize downtime. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain detailed production schedules based on customer orders, forecasts, and capacity constraints. Adjust schedules in response to delays, equipment issues, or material shortages. Coordinate with department leads to ensure labor and equipment are aligned with schedule requirements. Review material requirements and ensure raw materials and components are available to meet production needs. Work with procurement to expedite or delay orders as needed. Maintain accurate inventory data and participate in cycle counts when required. Collaborate with operations, quality, engineering, and logistics to ensure smooth workflow. Monitor production performance against schedule; identify bottlenecks and propose improvements. Track and report key metrics such as on-time delivery (OTD), capacity utilization, and schedule adherence. Support process-improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce lead times. Assist in developing best practices for planning, scheduling, and workflow optimization. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Business, or related field (preferred). 2–5 years of experience in production planning, scheduling, or supply chain within a manufacturing environment. Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Epicor). Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
