Position Overview – Pharmacy Customer Service Associate

The Pharmacy Customer Service Associate role at arenaflex is the frontline of our pharmacy experience. Key Responsibilities

  • Customer Interaction: Greet patients warmly, assess their pharmacy needs, and provide clear, concise information about prescription status, refills, and medication usage.
  • Prescription Processing: Accurately input prescription orders into the pharmacy management system, verify patient information, and confirm insurance details while adhering to all regulatory standards.
  • Medication Dispensing Support: Assist the pharmacist in preparing medication labels, counting tablets, and ensuring proper packaging, while maintaining strict attention to dosage calculations.
  • Proactive Service Delivery: Anticipate customer needs by offering medication counseling, suggesting over‑the‑counter alternatives, and promoting health‑related products that complement prescriptions.
  • Problem Resolution: Identify and address any prescription discrepancies, insurance rejections, or customer concerns promptly, escalating complex issues to the pharmacist as needed.
  • Compliance & Safety: Follow all state and federal pharmacy laws, maintain confidentiality of patient health information, and uphold arenaflex’s safety protocols for handling controlled substances.
  • Inventory Management: Perform routine stock checks, replenish shelves, and assist in ordering high‑demand items to ensure product availability.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with pharmacists, technicians, and other store associates to create a seamless, efficient pharmacy workflow.
  • Community Engagement: Participate in local health fairs, vaccination clinics, and wellness events organized by arenaflex to strengthen community ties.

Essential Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; additional post‑secondary coursework in health‑related fields is a plus.
  • Strong numerical aptitude and proven math skills to verify prescription dosages and perform accurate medication counts.
  • Previous experience in a retail pharmacy or customer‑service environment, preferably within a pharmacy setting.
  • Exceptional communication abilities—both oral and written—to convey complex health information in an understandable manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and thrive in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with pharmacy software platforms, electronic health records, and point‑of‑sale systems.
  • Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA and other privacy regulations.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with prescription insurance verification and third‑party payer processes.
  • Certification or coursework in pharmacy technician training (CPhT‑eligible candidates are encouraged to apply).
  • Knowledge of over‑the‑counter health products, nutraceuticals, and wellness trends.
  • A compassionate, patient‑first mindset with a demonstrated history of delivering proactive service.
  • Proficiency in multiple languages, especially Spanish, to serve a diverse customer base.

Core Skills & Competencies for Success

  • Attention to Detail: Precision in medication handling and data entry is non‑negotiable.
  • Customer‑Centric Mindset: Ability to anticipate needs, personalize solutions, and follow through until the customer is fully satisfied.
  • Problem‑Solving: Quick identification of prescription issues and effective resolution without disrupting workflow.
  • Team Orientation: Collaborative spirit that supports pharmacists and fellow associates to achieve common goals.
  • Technology Savvy: Comfortable navigating digital pharmacy systems, scanning equipment, and mobile applications.
