Algorithmic Trading Internship

Position OverviewWe are seeking highly motivated individuals to participate in a summer program in which they will plan and execute a research project relevant to Gelber’s trading strategies. Our interests are best served by teaching you the necessary skills to demonstrate your talent and by giving you difficult and interesting problems to solve.What You’ll DoExperience hands-on learning and have immediate exposure to senior leaders within the trading industryGain a thorough understanding of the financial markets through a robust program that will be intensive, challenging, and fun!Classroom portion will be tailored to the topic areas that are useful for the project and the class’s preexisting experienceTopics may include market microstructure, product features, and quantitative analysisEngage in strategic games to hone your skills in evaluating risksCollaborate directly with an Algorithmic Desk, tackling real-world problems relevant to the current market environment and industryTake ownership of a research project designed by quantitative traders to address critical questions in tradingGuided by experienced traders, you will navigate the research process and showcase your analytical expertiseDevelop an understanding of the various trading strategies we trade within Gelber to facilitate your career advancementGoalsBe able to construct a strong research processDevelop significant knowledge of quantitative research and the concepts that govern trading and marketsDetermine if this is the career you want to pursueQualificationsCuriosity, self-motivation, strong communication skills, and an ability to collaborate with others in a competitive environmentExcellent problem-solving skills and ability to learn, understand, and apply new conceptsProgramming experience with Python, C#, Java, or C++Making progress towards a master's or PhD in a STEM fieldInterest in financial markets is a must, but prior market experience is not requiredThe approximate hourly rate for this position in Boston, MA is $50/hr.
