Screenwriter (Produced Film or TV Credit Required) – Educational Scene Writing Project - Remote

Remote, USA Full-time Posted 2026-03-23
Company: TutorPro Location: Remote (U.S. or International) Project Type: Independent Contractor (1099 for U.S. contributors) – Royalty Participation Important Note: This position involves writing scenes for an educational vocabulary book, not a film or television screenplay. Applicants must have at least one produced film or television writing credit listed on IMDb. This project is being developed as a professionally edited collaborative volume and is intended for submission to established educational publishers. Project Overview • Collaborative educational book featuring original scenes written by professional screenwriters • Approximately 50 short scenes teaching expressive English vocabulary through dramatic dialogue and narrative action • Scenes will be written as 2–3 page cinematic scenes presented in narrative prose format, incorporating assigned vocabulary naturally within story and dialogue and appearing within chapters that include vocabulary definitions and exercises. • Initial development will produce sample chapters for a proposed educational language-learning book project Seeking professional screenwriters with produced film or television credits to contribute original scenes for a collaborative educational book project featuring cinematic storytelling in narrative prose format. Because the project is intended to produce authentic cinematic dialogue, applications are sought specifically from writers with professional screenwriting credits. Selected contributors will work from structured vocabulary lists and scene guidelines to ensure consistency across the volume. Contributors will typically be assigned approximately four to five short scenes. Scenes should involve tension, humor, conflict, or other engaging moments in which vocabulary appears naturally within dialogue. Vocabulary will focus on expressive words commonly heard in films, television, novels, and everyday conversation, helping learners understand natural spoken English and modern storytelling language. The project is being developed by Superlative Press (superlativepressbooks.com), an educational publishing imprint operated through TutorPro (thetutorpro.org), a tutoring agency serving the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. Superlative Press has previously published eight educational test-preparation books. Initial development will involve producing several completed sample chapters with contributing writers before submitting the manuscript to traditional publishers in the educational and language-learning market. Contributors will be informed of the publishing outcome before beginning their writing assignments. Participation in the project is voluntary, and contributors may decline to participate further if the book proceeds as an independently published volume through Superlative Press. The project is a collaborative volume featuring approximately ten contributing writers and will be overseen by the publisher, with editorial support from a PhD-level English editor and a separate editor experienced in screenplay-style writing to ensure both linguistic precision and authentic dialogue. Additional details regarding scene structure, assignments, and editorial guidelines will be provided to selected applicants or upon request. Qualifications · Professional screenwriting experience with at least one produced film or television writing credit listed on IMDb. · Verifiable professional writing credits (IMDb, produced theater productions, or comparable professional work) · Ability to write natural, clear English suitable for international language learners · Interest in educational or language-learning content · Editorial experience in educational publishing, ESL materials, or language-learning content (for applicants interested in editorial roles) Additional Strengths (Not Required) · Experience with screenplay consulting, script development, story editing, teaching film or screenwriting, or judging screenwriting competitions Final selection of contributors will be based on writing quality, professional experience, and the fit of submitted material with the goals of the project. Responsibilities · Write approximately four to five original 2–3 page cinematic scenes presented in narrative prose format, incorporating assigned vocabulary naturally within dialogue and story context. · Ensure that assigned vocabulary words appear naturally within the scene so that they are understood through context and character interaction. · Provide brief vocabulary definitions and approximately 15 accompanying exercises or learning prompts related to the vocabulary used in the scene. · Follow assigned vocabulary lists, chapter guidelines, and editorial direction to maintain consistency across the volume. · Revise scenes, vocabulary explanations, and exercises as needed in response to editorial feedback and collaborate with the project editor during revisions. · Writers may work in any genre or storytelling style provided the assigned vocabulary is incorporated naturally and the dialogue reads like authentic spoken English rather than instructional text. Compensation A small development stipend may be provided for contributors whose scenes are selected for the initial sample chapters prepared for publisher submissions. Contributors will participate under a TutorPro contributor agreement, with royalties prorated based on the number of accepted scenes included in the final published manuscript and continuing for up to ten years from publication while the book remains in active sale. Completed scenes that meet editorial and quality standards will be included in the final manuscript. Contributors will receive author credit in the published volume and will be listed among the book’s contributing writers. Estimated Time Commitment, Participation, and Project Timeline The following information provides a general overview of the expected time commitment, participation structure, and project schedule. Additional details regarding scene guidelines, assignments, and editorial expectations will be provided to selected contributors. · Contributors will typically be assigned approximately four to five short cinematic scenes (2–3 pages each), with work completed over several months on a flexible schedule. · Writers may join the project at different points during the writing phase and are not required to participate for the full duration of the project. · Revisions may be requested during the editorial process to ensure consistency with vocabulary assignments and scene guidelines. · The writing phase will begin once the development stage is finalized (estimated Summer or Fall of 2026) and will proceed over several months, with contributors working on a flexible schedule while meeting agreed-upon deadlines. Participation Process Initial participation in the project involves expressing interest in contributing and reviewing the proposed scene format and vocabulary approach. At this stage, applicants are not committing to inclusion in the final manuscript. Formal contributor agreements will be issued only after the publishing path (traditional publishing agreement or independent publication) has been determined. Application Requirements Applicants should include the following materials: • Resume or CV that includes your produced film or television writing credit(s). • IMDb profile link demonstrating produced writing credits. • One or two sample scenes (screenplay format) demonstrating an engaging cinematic moment or interaction through dialogue and narrative description. Samples may be from prior writing projects, including produced or unproduced works, or written specifically for this application. If submitting a scene from a produced project, please indicate your role on that project (e.g., writer, co-writer, story by, etc.). Please submit samples in standard screenplay format as a PDF or screenwriting software file (e.g., Final Draft, Fade In, or WriterDuet). Vocabulary integration is required for these writing samples. • Confirmation of authorship. Submitted samples must be the applicant’s own writing and not material written in a non-writing capacity (such as writer’s assistant or production assistant). Writing samples are used solely for evaluation of applicants and will not be published or otherwise used. How to Apply Please submit your application through Indeed. Include a brief application message or short cover note identifying the produced film or television project listed on your IMDb profile that best represents your writing work and briefly describing your interest in participating in this project. Selected applicants will be invited to participate in a brief phone or video conversation to discuss the project and answer questions. Additional information about the project is available upon request. Please contact us through Indeed or at www.thetutorpro.org. All applicants will receive a response regarding their application status, typically within one week. Pay: From $25.00 per hour Work Location: Remote Apply tot his job Apply To this Job
