Remote Senior Research Chemist
Our client, a cutting-edge pharmaceutical research firm, is seeking an experienced Senior Research Chemist to join their innovative team. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to conduct your research and analysis from your home laboratory or a suitable remote setup. The ideal candidate will possess a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or a related field, with extensive experience in synthetic chemistry, process development, and analytical techniques. You will be instrumental in designing and executing complex chemical syntheses, contributing to the discovery and development of novel therapeutic compounds.
Responsibilities:
Design, synthesize, and characterize novel organic molecules for drug discovery programs. Develop and optimize synthetic routes for complex target molecules, ensuring efficiency and scalability. Perform thorough literature searches and utilize cheminformatics tools to guide synthetic strategies. Characterize synthesized compounds using advanced analytical techniques such as NMR, Mass Spectrometry, HPLC, and IR spectroscopy. Troubleshoot synthetic challenges and provide innovative solutions. Collaborate effectively with biologists, pharmacologists, and other research scientists to advance projects. Prepare detailed scientific reports, manuscripts, and presentations for internal and external dissemination. Mentor junior chemists, providing guidance on experimental design and execution. Ensure compliance with all laboratory safety protocols and environmental regulations. Manage chemical inventory and maintain laboratory equipment. Contribute to the intellectual property strategy through patent filings. Stay abreast of the latest advancements in synthetic organic chemistry and related fields. Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, or a closely related discipline. 5+ years of post-doctoral or industry experience in synthetic organic chemistry. Proven expertise in multi-step organic synthesis, including modern synthetic methodologies. Extensive experience with spectroscopic and chromatographic analytical techniques (NMR, MS, HPLC, GC). Strong understanding of reaction mechanisms and structure-activity relationships. Demonstrated ability to design and execute complex synthetic projects independently. Excellent problem-solving skills and a meticulous approach to research. Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of presenting complex scientific data clearly. Ability to work autonomously and manage time effectively in a remote setting. Experience with computational chemistry tools is a plus. Familiarity with process chemistry and scale-up is advantageous.
