Registered Nurse - Operating Room Scheduler
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse - Operating Room Scheduler to join our team at the Durham VA Health System. As a key member of our surgical team, you will be responsible for managing the operating room scheduling process, maximizing room utilization, and coordinating multiple internal and external phases of development of the Mastery Surgery Schedule.Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the operating room scheduling process to ensure efficient use of resources
- Coordinate with surgical team members, including surgeons, anesthesia providers, and nursing staff
- Develop and implement the Mastery Surgery Schedule, taking into account historical case statistics and equipment/supply needs
- Input data for scheduling cases into Surgical Software Package and make necessary changes
- Serve as a resource person to residents and fellows regarding operating room scheduling policies and procedures
- Utilize analytical skills to match demand for OR time with available staffed operating room times
Requirements:
- Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia
- Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant
- Minimum of 1 year of recent Operating Room surgical scrub and circulating Registered Nurse experience
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and maintain composure in stressful situations
