We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate individual to fill the role of Behavioral Student Advocate at Lindale Middle School. As a key member of our school community, you will play a critical role in maintaining a safe and orderly environment, supporting students, teachers, and administrators, and promoting positive student behavior.
Job Summary
The Behavioral Student Advocate will perform school-based duties to support the goal of maintaining a safe and orderly environment. This includes assisting the administration, guidance, and teaching staff with student-teacher and student-student conflicts, monitoring student activities, and intervening as needed to deescalate student disruptions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitor areas outside classrooms, including hallways, bathrooms, cafeteria, parking lots, and outside areas
- Assist teachers and administration in maintaining traffic flow in the building
- Participate in behavior modification activities and peer mediations
- Communicate with student families through conferences and phone calls
- Monitor improvements in student performance and provide positive feedback
- Support students in adhering to the Code of Student Conduct
- Escort students to and from classrooms as needed
- Assist administration in gathering information for investigations
- Participate in planning activities with other staff
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalency Certificate required
- Ability to develop rapport with young people and deescalate aggressive behaviors
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to exercise patience, courtesy, and good judgment when working with students, teachers, administrators, and parents
- Demonstrated proficiency with business technology applications
