Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Math Instructor to join our team of dedicated educators. As a Math Instructor at Vanguard College Prep, you will play a vital role in inspiring and guiding our students to achieve their maximum potential. You will be responsible for instructing small groups of students in math core skills, tracking their progress, and developing personalized lesson plans to promote long-term understanding and top scores in college readiness exams. Key Responsibilities
- Instruct small groups of students in math core skills to promote long-term understanding and top scores in college readiness exams (ACT & SAT)
- Track student progress and develop personalized lesson plans to address individual needs and learning styles
- Model professionalism and strong organizational skills by maintaining timely communication with students, updating lesson schedules, and holding students accountable for assignments
- Develop and execute innovative lesson plans and curriculum that inspire a love for learning and promote academic excellence
- Mentor middle and high school students with empathy and understanding, recognizing the increasing competitiveness and stress of the college application process
Requirements and Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- A Bachelor's degree or higher in mathematics, education, or a related STEM field (Master's or higher preferred)
- Teaching experience in math and/or experience working in a college-level tutoring center (1+ years)
- A GPA of 3.5 or higher
- Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and G-Suites
- Access to a reliable internet connection and a workspace with minimal noise/distraction
The ideal candidate will also possess:
- Experience teaching at the college or community college level
- A robust understanding of classroom pedagogy and the ability to create customized, engaging lesson plans
- A desire to help students recognize, reach for, and realize their fullest potential
- A dynamic and outgoing personality
- The ability to work both independently and in a team environment
- Mastery of SAT and ACT Math, including Pre-Algebra, Algebra I & II, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Statistics
