Job Summary

We're looking for a highly skilled and compassionate Patient Access Scheduling Representative to join our remote team. As a key member of our Patient Access department, you'll play a vital role in scheduling, registering, and coordinating patient appointments, surgeries, and medical procedures for McLaren Health. Key Responsibilities

As a Patient Access Scheduling Representative, you'll be responsible for:

  • Obtaining required patient demographic and insurance information for McLaren Health, governmental requirements, billing, and third-party payer needs.
  • Providing courteous and efficient services to customers and accurately documenting/verifying patient pre-registration information in a professional and timely manner. Collecting, documenting, and scanning all required demographic and financial information.
  • Providing physician and/or diagnostic appointment scheduling.
  • Maintaining knowledge of insurance and authorization requirements. Performing real-time insurance verification and interpreting responses. Informing patients of insurance requirements for services provided, such as authorizations/pre-certifications and referrals.
  • Estimating and collecting copays, deductibles, and other patient financial obligations.
  • Handling inbound and outbound calls with the goal of growing business, customer satisfaction, and customer retention, providing ease of access to McLaren Health services.
  • Maintaining professionalism and diplomacy, following specific standards as defined in the department professionalism policy.
  • Performing all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

Essential Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a customer service role or healthcare industry.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 years of previous experience with third-party medical insurance, HMO, and managed care, including experience with CPT and ICD-10 coding and medical terminology.

Skills and Competencies

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in computer software applications, including Microsoft Office and electronic medical records systems.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance billing procedures.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information.
