About the Job
Position Overview:
The University of Minnesota Crookston is looking to add a
multi-faceted content creator to their marketing and communications
team. This role will focus on creating digital, video, and print
content to be used across all University marketing and
communication channels including but not limited to; web, social
media, print, radio, TV, billboard, etc. with the purpose of story
telling to current and prospective students, faculty and staff, and
the greater community.
The Content Creator supports the university’s marketing and
communication efforts by developing and producing engaging,
accurate, and on-brand materials. This position requires a balance
of creativity and analytical thinking, with strong communication
skills and attention to detail. A successful candidate will be
organized, able to manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines
while maintaining accuracy and consistency across all projects.
This role demands both creative initiative and disciplined
execution to ensure high-quality, error-free content delivery.
This position is located on the Crookston, MN campus. 12 month
position with 100% FTE
Supervision:
This position reports to the Assistant Director of Marketing &
Communications.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Content Production - 40%
• Capture, edit, and produce high-quality photo and video content
for marketing and communication purposes.
• Design visually engaging graphics and promotional materials
consistent with university brand standards.
• Write and edit clear, compelling copy for use across digital
and print platforms.
• Maintain organized content files and ensure all materials meet
accessibility and quality standards.
Content Distribution - 25%
• Publish and update content on the university website, social
media channels, and other digital platforms.
• Coordinate the distribution of newsletters, announcements, and
promotional emails to targeted audiences.
• Share news stories and visual content with local and regional
media outlets to increase visibility.
• Monitor engagement and respond to online interactions as
appropriate to maintain a positive university presence.
Strategy and Optimization - 15%
• Collaborate with marketing and communications staff to develop
creative content ideas that support institutional goals.
• Use analytics tools to track content performance and audience
engagement across platforms.
• Evaluate data to identify trends and recommend strategies for
improved reach and effectiveness.
• Continuously refine and optimize content approaches to enhance
brand awareness, engagement, and conversion outcomes.
Collaboration and Administrative - 20%
• Work closely with departments, faculty, and student
organizations to identify storytelling opportunities.
• Coordinate with outside vendors, photographers, videographers,
and media professionals as needed for content production and
distribution.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with local and
regional news and media contacts.
• Manage project timelines, deliverables, and approvals to ensure
efficient production and publication.
• Maintain photo, video, and design equipment, and organize
digital asset storage systems.
• Contribute to team meetings, planning sessions, and shared
initiatives that advance university marketing and communications
goals.
• Occasional event support including planning, coordination,
& execution.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
• BA/BS degree in marketing, communications, advertising, graphic
design, digital media or similar.
• Four years of experience creating content.
• Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication
skills.
• Experience with content creation and editing software (Canva,
Adobe Creative Suite, iMovie, etc.)
• Familiarity with social media platforms and best
practices.
• Ability to follow brand standards and style guides.
• Collaborative team player with the ability to manage multiple
projects at once.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Marketing campaign management experience.
• Experience with motion graphics or digital animation.
• UX/UI experience.
• Experience with Google Analytics or Looker Studio.
Pay and Benefits
Pay Range: $52,500-$56,500; depending on
education/qualifications/experience
Time Appointment: 100% Appointment
