Job Description: Part-Time AWS Support (On-Demand, After Hours) Position: On-Demand AWS Support Engineer (Part-Time, Contract) Company: Cyber Security Services Location: Remote (U.S. preferred) Schedule: On-Demand, After Hours / Flexible Compensation: Hourly / Retainer options available Certification Preferred: AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Security Specialty Overview Cyber Security Services is seeking an experienced AWS Support Engineer to provide on-demand technical assistance and periodic security reviews across a variety of customer AWS environments. This role is ideal for someone who already works full-time during the day and wants flexible, after-hours work supporting cloud, security, and compliance initiatives. You will assist with troubleshooting, architecture guidance, security hardening, and best practice reviews. Assignments are periodic and may include both planned tasks and ad-hoc support. Key Responsibilities On-Demand Technical Support • Provide after-hours AWS assistance on an as-needed basis • Troubleshoot issues across EC2, RDS, S3, VPC networking, IAM, CloudWatch, Lambda, and related services • Assist with configuration updates, optimization, and environment clean-ups • Respond to urgent or critical issues when available (optional, not an on-call position) AWS Security & Compliance Reviews • Perform periodic AWS security posture assessments • Review IAM configurations, roles, policies, least-privilege architecture • Evaluate VPC architecture, firewall/security group rules, and segmentation • Assess logging, monitoring, CloudTrail, GuardDuty, and Config policies • Review S3 bucket configurations, encryption, and access controls • Assist with hardening based on CIS Benchmarks, AWS Well-Architected Framework, and NIST/NYDFS/GLBA requirements (as applicable) • Recommend improvements and generate short-form security reports Architecture & Best Practices • Provide guidance on cost optimization, tagging, backups, and resilience • Assist with serverless design considerations (Lambda/API Gateway) • Review CloudFormation/Terraform (if used) • Advise on network layouts, VPC peering, Transit Gateway, and hybrid connectivity • Support modernization or migration tasks when appropriate Documentation & Communication • Document changes, recommendations, and findings • Communicate clearly with Cyber Security Services’ leadership team • Provide written or verbal summaries of security issues and remediation steps Qualifications Required • 3+ years hands-on AWS experience • Strong knowledge of core AWS services (EC2, IAM, VPC, RDS, S3, Lambda, CloudWatch, CloudTrail) • Understanding of cloud security principles and least-privilege IAM design • Experience troubleshooting AWS networking issues (routing, SGs, NACLs, VPC endpoints) • Ability to work independently, respond promptly, and communicate professionally • Must be self-directed and comfortable working intermittently/on-demand Preferred • AWS Certification (any): • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or Professional • AWS Security Specialty • AWS SysOps Administrator • Experience with AWS Organizations, Control Tower, or multi-account architecture • Experience supporting regulated environments (NYDFS, GLBA, HIPAA, SOC 2) • Exposure to Terraform or CloudFormation • Familiarity with penetration testing or cloud security review processes Work Style / Availability • After-hours preferred (evenings/weekends) • Work is fully remote and delivered asynchronously unless otherwise arranged • This is not an on-call role — but quick responses when available are valued • Workloads vary from a few hours per week to targeted project bursts Who This Is Ideal For • A full-time engineer looking for side work • A cloud architect wanting to earn extra income on flexible hours • A cybersecurity engineer comfortable with AWS environments Job Type: Part-time Pay: From $85.00 per hour Work Location: Remote Apply tot his job Apply To this Job
