AI Engineer (Founding Team Equity-Based)

About the Startup We are an early-stage InsurTech startup focused on building an AI-powered software platform that simplifies workflows for insurance agents and improves the experience for customers. Our goal is to reduce manual effort, improve decision-making, and automate everyday insurance operations using AI. We are currently looking for a Founding AI Engineer to help design and build the core AI capabilities of the product from scratch. Role Overview As an AI Engineer, you will play a key role in building an intelligent platform that supports: • Insurance agents (lead management, policy recommendations, automation) • Customers (queries, onboarding, policy understanding, support) You will work closely with the founder(s) to shape the product vision, architecture, and AI strategy. • Important Note: This role does not offer immediate monetary compensation. • After product success and funding, equity / profit-sharing will be offered based on contribution and commitment. This role is ideal for someone who: • Wants to build something meaningful from zero • Is interested in startups and long-term upside • Can commit time alongside another job or freelance work initially Key Responsibilities • Design and develop AI/ML models for insurance-related use cases • Build AI-driven features such as: • Conversational AI / chatbots for agents and customers • Recommendation engines (policies, cross-sell, upsell) • Document understanding (policies, claims, forms) • Workflow automation and insights • Work on data pipelines, model training, evaluation, and optimization • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to integrate AI into the platform • Continuously improve model accuracy, performance, and scalability Required Skills & Qualifications • Strong experience with Python • Hands-on experience with Machine Learning / Deep Learning • Experience with LLMs, NLP, or Conversational AI • Familiarity with frameworks such as: • TensorFlow / PyTorch • LangChain, OpenAI APIs, Hugging Face (preferred) • Understanding of data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model evaluation • Ability to work independently in a startup environment Nice to Have • Experience in Insurance, FinTech, or regulated domains • Experience building MVPs or startup products • Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS / Azure / Google Cloud Platform) • Experience with APIs, microservices, or full-stack exposure What We Offer • Founding team role with real ownership • Equity / profit-sharing opportunity after product success • Opportunity to build a real-world AI product used by insurance professionals • Freedom to influence architecture, tools, and product direction • Long-term growth as the company scales Who Should Apply • AI Engineers looking to be part of a startup journey • Engineers interested in equity-based roles • Professionals or freelancers who can contribute part-time initially • Builders who care about long-term impact over short-term salary Apply tot his job Apply To this Job
