Children’s Ministry Director

Children’s Ministry Director Chinese Baptist Church of Greater Hartford Chinese Baptist Church of Greater Hartford (CBCGH) is looking for the right person to be our Director of Children’s Ministry. The candidate must be a passionate follower of Jesus Christ and desire to lead children and to know and follow Jesus Christ as their savior and lord. The Director of Children’s Ministry will be expected to provide leadership and oversight for all aspects of the children’s ministries (birth -5th grade) at CBCGH. This will require a firm grasp of the beliefs, values, and strategy of CBCGH and the ability to align staff and key leadership teams with its mission, vision, and values. An understanding of the dynamics of Chinese immigrant culture would also be helpful for the position. Vision of the CBCGH Children’s Ministry • Bring children into a relationship with God through Jesus Christ. • Teach Biblical truths to children birth-5th grade at an age-appropriate level. • Teach children how to grow as disciples of Jesus Christ, by encouraging good spiritual habits and Christian fellowship. • Train, equip, and assist parents/guardians to teach, share, and encourage the faith to their children. Responsibilities • Unify the Children’s Ministry programming, co-workers and set clear direction. • Oversee all programming, curriculum, and volunteers related to the Children’s Ministry. • Train, recruit, and encourage teachers and volunteers in the Children’s Ministry. • Provide training and resources for parents to minister to their children. • Promote an environment that encourages the spiritual growth of children and is inclusive of children with special needs. • Communicate the needs and activity of the Children’s Ministry across different congregations • Implement child safety policies. • Other responsibilities as needed. • Ability to plan, organize, and oversee all Sunday children’s programming, Friday night activities, and special events throughout the year. Requirements • Four-year degree from a recognized college or university • 3-5 years of prior children’s ministry experience • Experience working with children, and an understanding of basic child development. • Ability to communicate, in written and oral expression, with different groups and individuals. Ability to communicate in Mandarin helpful. • Understanding Chinese culture is preferred. • Have experience working with children with special needs.
