Maintenance Assistant
Savant Senior Living is an Assisted Living facility dedicated to ensuring the safety and comfort of its residents. The Maintenance Assistant will perform general maintenance tasks under the direction of the Maintenance Director or Executive Director, contributing to the efficient operation of the facility.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the general maintenance and repair of the facility, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry work
- Perform routine inspections of equipment, systems, and facilities to identify maintenance needs or potential issues
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and work orders, prioritizing tasks and ensuring timely completion
- Conduct preventative maintenance activities, such as filter replacements, equipment lubrication, and inspections, as directed
- Assist in the setup and breakdown of furniture, fixtures, and equipment for various events and resident needs
- Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of maintenance areas, equipment storage, and inventory
- Monitor and maintain the facility’s inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment, reporting any shortages or needs to the supervisor
- Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspections, and repairs
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and adhere to proper procedures for the handling and disposal of hazardous materials
- Report any safety hazards, maintenance concerns, or equipment malfunctions to the supervisor promptly
- Collaborate with contractors and vendors as needed for repairs, inspections, or maintenance projects
- Perform all other duties as assigned
Skills
- At least 18 years of age
- Required Health Screening, TB Clearance, and Criminal Record Clearance
- Any special licenses, certifications, and certificates (First Aid/ CPR Certified)
- Special skills needed to meet client needs [California Code of Regulations Sections: 85065(f)/87411(g)]
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional training or certifications in maintenance, trades, or related fields are desirable
- Previous experience in general maintenance or a related role, preferably in a healthcare or senior care environment
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry systems and repairs
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively
- Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
- Good communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with residents, families, staff, and contractors
- Physical stamina and ability to perform tasks that may require bending, lifting, carrying, and working in various weather conditions
- Basic computer skills for documentation and communication purposes
