Postdoctoral Associate
The George Washington University is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate to join the Antibiotic Resistance Action Center (ARAC). The successful candidate will work with a multidisciplinary team on projects that investigate antimicrobial resistance and related health factors, contributing to research through data analysis, project coordination, and scientific writing.
Responsibilities
- Design and execute studies on AMR , infectious disease epidemiology, and environmental or climate exposures
- Manage and analyze genomic datasets, including whole-genome sequencing, 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing, and metagenomic data, using established and custom bioinformatics pipelines
- Integrate genomic, microbial ecology, environmental, and clinical datasets for statistical and epidemiologic analyses
- Develop, test, and refine analytic methods, data processing workflows, and visualization approaches
- Conduct literature reviews to inform research design and support methodological innovation
- Prepare manuscripts, figures, and supplemental materials for abstracts, presentations, and peer-reviewed publications
- Contribute to grant proposals, including analytic plans, preliminary results, and scientific narrative
- Maintain organized and reproducible data repositories, codebases, and documentation
- Prepare analytic results, tables, and visualizations for manuscripts, presentations, sponsor reports, and internal use
- Present research findings at team meetings, collaborator meetings, and scientific conferences
- Assist in preparation of progress reports and deliverables for funding agencies
- Participate in regular project team meetings and manage timelines, milestones, and communication with collaborators
- Internal facing coordination with senior research scientists and laboratory manager to ensure alignment across dry and wet laboratory research for specific projects
- Support other applicable study coordination tasks, including data acquisition, quality control, and documentation
- Provide guidance to students and trainees
- Contribute to essential laboratory or project operations as needed
Skills
- Applicants must have fulfilled all requirements for the award of a PhD or equivalent qualification in a relevant field by the date of employment
- Demonstrated experience with genomic data analysis, bioinformatics workflows, epidemiologic methods, or environmental exposure research
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary research environment
