Experienced Truck Dispatcher Needed for Power Only & 53ft Dry Van Loads US Nationwide - Contract to Hire

We are seeking an experienced, reliable Truck Dispatcher (remote OK) to handle freight for our OTR operations. Our trucks run over-the-road (OTR) nationwide, focusing on power only loads (tractor-only, trailer provided by broker/shipper) and 53ft dry van loads. We need a dedicated dispatcher who can keep the trucks moving consistently with high-paying, efficient loads while minimizing deadhead and downtime. Key Responsibilities: • Actively search load boards (DAT, Truckstop.com, etc.) and broker networks to find and book profitable OTR loads for power only and 53ft dry van equipment. • Negotiate rates, book loads, confirm pickups/deliveries, and handle rate confirmations, changes, and issues. • Dispatch drivers efficiently, plan optimal routes, and ensure on-time performance. • Maintain constant communication with drivers (via phone/text/apps) for check calls, updates, and problem resolution. • Build and manage strong relationships with brokers and shippers for repeat business. • Handle all required paperwork: Bills of Lading (BOLs), rate confirmations, proof of delivery, detention requests, lumper fees, etc. • Track and document everything accurately — daily load status reports, driver logs/HOS compliance, payment issues, and weekly summaries for the owner. • Report daily/weekly on loads booked, revenue generated, issues resolved, and upcoming needs. • Ensure compliance with FMCSA regulations, safety standards, and company policies. Required Skills & Experience: • Proven experience as a truck dispatcher (minimum 1-2+ years preferred), specifically with OTR dry van and power only loads. • Strong knowledge of load boards, freight market rates, lanes, and negotiation tactics. • Excellent communication skills — clear, professional, and timely with drivers, brokers, and shippers. • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment. • Proficient with paperwork, documentation, and basic office tools (Google Sheets/Excel for tracking). • Reliable, proactive, and problem-solving mindset — we need someone who keeps trucks rolling efficiently. • Must be US-based (or authorized to work in the US) with fluent English.
