Graduate Structural Engineer
Sedgman Canada Ltd. is hiring a Graduate Structural Engineer for their Vancouver, B.C. office. The selected candidate will support structural engineering projects by conducting design, investigation, managing budgets and schedules, and preparing technical reports.
Responsibilities
- Perform structural and concrete designs ensuring compliance with relevant codes, industry standards
- Participate in concept studies, including estimating quantities and preliminary designs
- Perform detailed concrete and steel design, including interaction with Drafters to produce models and documentation in line with QA Compliance
- Assist with construction enquiries, including safe lifting and erection
- Interface with other Engineering disciplines, including Electrical, Process and Mechanical
- Focus on technical innovation and continuous improvement
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in structural engineering
- 0 – 3 years of experience in structural design
- Must be eligible to register with the EGBC or will have their P.Eng EGBC designation
- Good understanding of steel and concrete design for heavy industrial structures
- Ability to safely and effectively self-manage time, priorities and activities
- Good communication skills with well-developed written and oral skills
- Proven ability to work as part of a team
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Must be available to travel to Client sites; may be seconded to work on projects, either temporarily relocated, or placed on a rotational roster
- Must be eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship
- Previous mining or metals industry experience is highly desired
- Experience with Canadian building code across the provinces is desirable
