Sales Development Representative
Gusto is on a mission to grow the small business economy by handling payroll, health insurance, and HR for small businesses. The Sales Development Representative will be the first point of contact for prospective customers exploring retirement benefits, engaging leads, qualifying opportunities, and using AI tools to enhance efficiency in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Engage inbound Gusto customers via phone, email, and AI-enhanced communication tools
- Conduct discovery conversations to understand customer needs and qualify opportunities
- Use AI to prioritize leads, personalize outreach, and recommend next best actions
- Partner with Account Executives to ensure high-quality opportunity handoffs
- Maintain accurate CRM records and leverage AI-driven insights in Salesforce
- Collaborate with teammates to refine sales strategies and AI best practices
Skills
- 1–2 years of professional experience (internships included)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Comfort learning and using AI tools to improve efficiency and decision-making
- High ownership mindset with strong organizational skills
- Ability to collaborate in a supportive, inclusive team environment
- Experience in customer-facing, sales, or business development roles preferred
