Jr. Data Engineer

Yum! Brands, part of the Habit Burger team, is seeking a Jr. Data Engineer to enhance technology that improves restaurant operations and guest experiences. The role involves developing and maintaining data systems that support various applications and integrations with third-party services.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain stored procedures, triggers, and other database objects
• Participate in report development and system integrations
• Conduct database testing and debugging
• Engage in code reviews and documentation of database architecture and processes
• Implement and maintain database security protocols
• Ensure data integrity, security, and quality
• Monitor and optimize database performance
• Manage multiple tasks including high-priority requests and ongoing projects
• Collaborate with developers, stakeholders, and end-users to gather requirements and deliver solutions
• Design, develop, and manage scalable and reliable data pipelines

Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• 1–3 years of experience in database design, development, and maintenance
• Proficiency in MSSQL (T-SQL, Stored Procedures) or equivalent
• Working knowledge of database management systems (e.g., Oracle, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server)
• Familiarity with data modeling, normalization, and database design principles
• Understanding of performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization
• Prior exposure to ETL processes and tools (experience with any ETL tool is a plus)
• Comfortable working in IDEs such as Visual Studio and Snowflake
• Experience with data visualization tools (DOMO preferred; Power BI and Tableau desirable)
• Knowledge of SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS
• Programming experience in Python
• Awareness of data privacy laws and compliance
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
• Eagerness to learn and a strong work ethic
