Our Mission: Make optimal health humanity's new baseline.
This job is right for you if you:
• Live and work in the U.S. and communicate clearly in English.
• Can do this job without the support of AI.
• To be clear, we are not looking for a prompt expert, we are looking for a designer.
• Have a proven track record in game design, systems design, or interactive experience design.
• Have launched successful games, gamified apps, or high-engagement digital products that you can demonstrate and describe in detail.
• Can translate behavioral science and reward mechanics into intuitive, emotionally engaging user experiences.
• Are obsessed with creating experiences that foster mastery, momentum, and meaning through thoughtful design.
• Understand health and wellness culture intuitively, and would find it easy to draw inspiration as you are genuinely interested in the space.
• Move fast, give clear feedback, and can ship high-quality work without getting stuck in perfectionist wormholes.
• Are comfortable working in a fast-paced startup where procedures are not clearly defined (you own the creation of design procedures from scratch and iterate rapidly).
• Are fluent in Figma.
• Do the design yourself and don’t outsource to someone on Upwork, etc.
What you'll do:
• Architect the core engagement loop for Rythm: how users build habits, unlock insights, and stay motivated month after month.
• Design progression systems, streaks, and feedback mechanics that make health optimization feel fun and rewarding.
• Map out narrative and motivational arcs across user journeys to transform data into a story of improvement.
• Create UI/UX flows that integrate achievement, feedback, and reward states natively into the product experience.
• Partner with product, engineering, and design to align interaction mechanics with real health data and outcomes.
• Quickly prototype and test gamified features using Figma, Framer, or Unity to validate engagement concepts.
• Define metrics for success: retention, habit frequency, intrinsic motivation, and delight.
• Evolve Rythm’s experience into a daily ritual that feels like a game people want to keep playing.
Hiring process:
• 30-minute intro call with Kelsie (Co-Founder & Lead Designer); chat about Rythm, the role, and your goals.
• 2-hour take-home project
• 30-minute call to meet Robby (Co-Founder & CEO).
• Reference checks.
Note: AI resumes will not be accepted.
