Creative Brand Designer for Fiction Authors (Logos, Social Media, Email Branding)

We’re a fiction publishing company looking for a talented and imaginative Brand Designer who can create cohesive, personality-driven author brands. This is a contractor position, paid hourly or per project, depending on scope. We’re not looking for someone who produces cookie-cutter, corporate-looking designs. We want an artist — someone who brings creativity, emotion, and originality to every branding project. Think Etsy-level creativity with professional polish. About the Role: You’ll design complete author branding packages that reflect each author’s unique style, genre, and audience. This includes logo and sub-logo design, social media branding, email marketing design, and brand identity implementation across all digital platforms. You must be able to balance feminine and masculine design aesthetics, as our client base spans a wide variety of fiction genres — from romance to fantasy, mystery, and beyond. Every design should feel authentic — never AI-generated or templated. Key Responsibilities: Brand Design & Identity - Design custom, non-corporate logos and sub-logos that feel unique and genre-appropriate. - Deliver logos in multiple formats and layouts (primary, secondary, watermark, and icon versions). - Develop brand color palettes, typography pairings, and style guides for consistent identity use. - Produce visually stunning designs that reflect each author’s personality and readership. Social Media & Digital Branding - Create complete social media branding kits including profile graphics, banners, and post templates. - Understand platform-specific requirements and design accordingly for Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and Pinterest. - Ensure every asset translates seamlessly across desktop and mobile. Email Marketing & Web Branding - Design email newsletter templates and branded automations for platforms like MailerLite, Mailchimp, ConvertKit, and ActiveCampaign. - Apply branding to landing pages, sign-up forms, and automation workflows, using custom HTML/CSS coding when needed. - Maintain visual consistency between author websites, landing pages, and email campaigns. Qualifications: - Proven experience in brand identity design (preferably for authors, artists, or creative businesses). - Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) or Canva Pro, with an artistic eye for detail. - Ability to create original designs from scratch — no AI-generated work or stock logo templates. - Deep understanding of both female and male target audiences and genre-specific aesthetics. - Experience implementing branding across social media, websites, and email platforms. - Strong understanding of UI/UX for email design and basic HTML/CSS for template customization. - Excellent communication skills and a passion for creative collaboration.
