AI Systems Engineer / Architect – Contract - Contract to Hire

We are looking for an experienced AI systems engineer / architect to help design and implement our core AI system. We are building operational AI systems based on autonomous agents. These systems are deployed into real business workflows and run in production. This is not a prototype, PoC, or research project. Scope of work Design the overall system architecture Select appropriate platforms, tools, and models Implement agent-based workflows Integrate with common business systems (CRM, calendars, messaging, forms, etc.) Ensure the system is stable, scalable, and maintainable Document architecture and design decisions The first system focuses on handling inbound inquiries, qualification, follow-up, and booking, but the architecture must be reusable for future systems. What we are building Agent-based AI systems Clear separation of responsibilities between agents Event-driven workflows Production-ready systems (not demos) Focus on reliability and operational use Required experience Strong experience building AI-powered systems in production Experience with LLM-based agents and orchestration Backend and integration experience Ability to make sound architectural decisions Comfortable owning technical decisions end-to-end Nice to have Experience with tools like OpenAI, voiceflow, n8n, make, zapier, ghl etc..
