About the Role As a Reading Tutor at Braintrust Tutors, you'll work virtually with students to strengthen their reading comprehension, fluency, and critical thinking skills. You'll provide engaging, consistent lessons using Braintrust's curriculum and materials, helping students build foundational literacy skills and confidence. Opportunity Details Start Date: Varies by Engagement | Applications are considered on a rolling basis Typical Schedule/Availability Requirement: • 12-14 weeks. 3/4 days a week. Approximately 45-minute sessions • Monday to Friday during school hours (8 am to 5 pm ET) Pay Rate: $32/hour for 1:1; $45/hour for 1:4 Requirements: Background check required; additional requirements vary by Engagement What You Will Do • Provide virtual small-group or 1:1 reading tutoring to students developing literacy skills • Implement Braintrust Tutors intervention programs as designed, using all materials with fidelity • Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly • Maintain accurate records of student attendance and academic performance • Collaborate with the Braintrust Tutors Operations team and school staff to support student growth • Foster a supportive and engaging virtual learning environment that promotes focus and confidence • Follow school-site procedures and policies while maintaining a professional and dependable presence • Use provided assessments and progress monitoring tools for understanding to guide instruction • Manage time effectively during sessions to complete all planned instructional activities What You Will Have • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field • Active or expired teaching license • Experience with reading instruction that includes morphology-based word study, vocabulary development, reading comprehension strategies, and writing skills covering grammar, syntax, and multi-paragraph composition using a structured scope and sequence. • Strong classroom management and communication skills • Comfort with virtual platforms and collaborating remotely with teachers and staff • Punctuality, professionalism, and reliability for all scheduled sessions • Reliable internet connection and appropriate technology for virtual instruction • Passion for literacy and closing opportunity gaps Next Steps • Complete a one-way interview via Spark Hire (sent after application) • Attend an Informative Session with the Recruitment Team • Onboarding & Clearances • Placement!
