Staff Accountant - Europe (Remote from South Africa)

What you will do: As a Staff Accountant based in South Africa, you will be joining a dynamic and forward-thinking team, fully remote with the flexibility to work from anywhere in South Africa whilst supporting European territories. • Perform monthly close activities, including preparing journal entries, maintaining account reconciliations, and conducting monthly variance analysis. • Lead the handover of the accounting function from our external accountants to inhouse accounting. • Lead with the localisation of our Oracle Fusion eXp instance to be locally compliant. • Assist in reconciling subledger to general ledger account balances. • Provide support for quarterly and annual audits, including preparing detailed schedules, supporting documentation, and financial reports. • Oversee asset management and intercompany accounting. • Respond to external and internal queries via email and phone. • Identify and calculate provisions and handle exceptions to standard bookings. • Assist in the development and documentation of business processes, procedures, checklists, and policies. • Perform other accounting-related duties as assigned. How you will grab our attention: • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. • 3 to 5 years of combined experience in accounting and the general ledger close process. • Strong understanding of local GAAP accounting principles; US GAAP knowledge is a plus. • Experience working with Oracle Fusion ERP is highly desirable. • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, with advanced skills preferred. Competencies: • Develops professional expertise by applying company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues. • Works on moderately scoped problems, using judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate actions. • Builds productive working relationships with internal and external partners. Working Conditions: Remote Location: This position allows you to work from any location in South Africa with a stable internet connection. You are expected to provide your own workspace and reliable internet access. Work Hours: While core hours are based on the local business schedule, you have flexibility in organizing your work, provided it does not compromise project deadlines or team collaboration. Equipment and Expenses: You will be provided with a company computer and other necessary equipment. Work-related expenses will be discussed and agreed upon in advance.
