[Remote] Legal Counsel (Remote, US)

They are seeking a Legal Counsel to provide practical legal advice and support across various commercial agreements, regulatory compliance, and product development. Responsibilities • Serve as counsel in preparing, reviewing, negotiating and advising on a wide range of commercial agreements, with a focus on SaaS, services, and procurement agreements • Support commercial contracts, partnerships including with regulated electric utilities, and transactions that support consumer energy solutions • Advise cross-functional teams on legal, regulatory, and compliance aspects of product development, launch, licensing, distribution, and marketing • Provide guidance on intellectual property, data privacy, open source, and technology licensing issues • Identify potential legal and business risks in contracts and develop approaches to mitigate them • Support corporate housekeeping and manage outside counsel • Work dynamically across the traditional in-house portfolio with minimal supervision • Provide legal review and business-focused legal advice across all departments and functions • Address broader strategic issues and matters of first impression Skills • JD from an accredited law school and admitted to practice law in good standing • 5+ years of legal practice, including in-house experience at a tech company • Business-forward in-house lawyer with leadership skills and a proven record of successfully handling complex legal issues, both commercial and product counsel experience preferred • Experience negotiating custom commercial deals with regulated electric utilities, retail energy providers, or other load serving entities • A legal- and thought-partner for our business development leadership, with direct impact on helping them accelerate deals and win new business • Solution-oriented, business-minded, and pragmatic • Strategic, results-driven, proactive, and resourceful • Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment • Exceptional judgment and ability to balance risk with corporate objectives • Excellent oral and written communication skills • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills • Ability to work independently and collaboratively • Superior interpersonal skills • Intellectual curiosity and willingness to take on new challenges Benefits • Fully remote work environment with home office set-up allowance • No pre-set vacation limits (with a top-down culture of taking meaningful PTO every year!) • Parental leave benefits • Competitive benefits package that includes numerous health and wellness benefits • 401(k) plan, with employer contributions to the same Company Overview • Renew Home integrates energy-smart features into homes, supporting cleaner energy and cost savings.
