CITB is looking for a dedicated <strong>Vocational Assessor – Construction Plant Operations</strong> to join our team at the National Construction College. This is a fantastic opportunity to support the development of the next generation of skilled construction plant operatives.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Role:</strong> Vocational Assessor – Plant Operations (Construction)</p><p><strong>Type: </strong>Mobile, managing your diary conducting onsite assessment visits with employers and learners within various construction sites nationally.</p><p><strong>Location: </strong>Ideally covering the London area (Oxfordshire to Central London)</p><p><strong>Hours of Work:</strong> Full-time (35 hours per week)</p><p><strong>Contract:</strong> Permanent</p><p><strong>Grade: </strong>SC3</p><p><strong>Target Salary: </strong>£47,973 per annum</p><p><strong>Additional Benefits:</strong> Car Allowance £6,452 p/a plus mobile working allowance £580</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Special Requirements: </strong><em>The post holder will be eligible for either a company car or a car allowance in line with the grade for this role, subject to the vehicle nominated for business use complying with CITB’s Car Policy. </em></p><p><br></p><p><strong>About the Role:</strong></p><p>As a Vocational Assessor, you will manage a cohort of apprentices and adult learners, assessing their knowledge, skills, and behaviours to ensure they meet industry standards and external awarding organisation requirements. You’ll play a key role in guiding learners through their apprenticeship journey, supporting learners towards successful End Point Assessment and/or SNVQ achievement.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong></p><ul><li>Conduct workplace assessments and evaluations of learner performance</li><li>Support Apprenticeship Development Coaches and Officers during periodic reviews</li><li>Maintain regular communication with employers regarding learner progress</li><li>Liaise with college-based Instructors and Lecturers to ensure alignment between college and workplace learning</li><li>Guide learners in preparing portfolios for End Point Assessment (EPA) and SNVQ</li><li>Provide constructive feedback to learners to support continuous improvement</li><li>Monitor learner progress using the Learner Management Systems (e.g Aptem)</li><li>Promote the development of English, maths, digital and personal skills</li><li>Participate in learner-at-risk processes and implement support strategies</li><li>Uphold safeguarding and health & safety standards at all times</li><li>Maintain strong relationships with industry professionals and stakeholders</li><li>Stay up to date with industry and educational developments through CPD</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong><em>Your Experience</em></strong></p><p><strong>Essential Criteria </strong></p><ul><li>Level 2 qualification relevant to Plant Operations</li><li>Specialist licence to practice qualifications (e.g CPCS, NPORS)</li><li>Industry experience in a construction industry related role within plant operations</li><li>Excellent knowledge of current industry practices</li><li>Assessor Awards (or willingness to achieve within one year)</li><li>Evidence of continuous professional development</li><li>Strong verbal and written communication skills</li><li>Level 2 or above in English and maths</li><li>Excellent organisational skills</li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Desirable Criteria</strong></p><ul><li>Level 3 teaching qualification (or willingness to achieve within one year)</li><li>Higher-level construction-related qualification</li><li>Level 5 teaching qualification</li><li>Experience in apprenticeship delivery</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Additional</strong></p><p>Visit CITB/NCC training colleges at NCC East in Bircham Newton and NCC Scotland in Glasgow as and when required.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>What You’ll Get in Return:</strong></p><ul><li>Free onsite lunch at NCC sites</li><li>Free onsite parking at NCC sites</li><li>25 days holiday + bank holidays</li><li>3 additional days Christmas shutdown</li><li>Generous pension scheme (up to 9% employer contribution)</li><li>Life assurance (4x salary)</li><li>2 paid volunteering days per year</li><li>24/7 GP Services</li><li>Professional development & funded training qualifications</li><li>Employee Assistance Programme</li><li>A team that respects you, your trade, and your time-served knowledge</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Why Join CITB</strong></p><p>At CITB, we’re committed to building a skilled, inclusive and resilient construction workforce.
