Senior ML Data Ops Engineer (Hybrid)

Remote, USA Full-time Posted 2025-11-24
Homeward is rearchitecting the delivery of health and care in partnership with communities everywhere, starting in rural America. 60?million Americans living in rural communities are facing a crisis of access to care. Rural Americans experience poorer clinical outcomes, a trend that is escalating as hospitals close and physician shortages increase. In fact, mortality rates are 23?% higher in rural areas, partly because of limited access to quality care. Our vision is care that enables everyone to achieve their best health. We are creating a purpose-built distribution model that addresses long-standing barriers to access and quality. Homeward supports Medicare-eligible beneficiaries by partnering with plans, providers and communities, taking full financial accountability for clinical outcomes and total costs across rural counties. As a public benefit corporation and Certified B Corp, our mission and business model align with the economic, demographic and health challenges that keep rural Americans from staying healthy. Homeward's Navigation platform uses advanced analytics to connect members to the right care and local resources, tackling social determinants of health and improving holistic outcomes. Because many rural communities lack adequate clinical capacity, we also employ care teams that supplement local practices and reach people who otherwise cannot access care. The Opportunity Join us in transforming healthcare for rural America. This role sits at the intersection of machine learning, infrastructure and data, owning the end-to-end systems from data infrastructure, ingestion, analytics, ML models and production services. You'll partner closely with data science, platform, backend and clinical teams to ensure our data and ML systems are scalable, reliable and compliant. What You'll Do • Own the production ML lifecycle-deployment, monitoring, scaling, retraining and reliability of models in production. • Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines for applications, infrastructure, data and ML artifacts using AWS and GitHub Actions. • Build and operate cloud data infrastructure with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CDK), focusing on security, scalability and compliance. • Develop and maintain data ingestion and transformation pipelines across structured and semi-structured sources (APIs, files, healthcare data). • Partner with data science and analytics to ensure high-quality, well-modelled data in Snowflake using dbt and modern ELT tooling. • Implement observability and monitoring across services, data pipelines and ML models (drift, performance, failures). • Support regulated workloads (HIPAA/PHI) with strong data and model governance practices. • Contribute to the technical roadmap, documentation and engineering best practices across ML, infra and data. What You Bring • 6-8+ years of experience across DevOps, MLOps and/or Data Engineering. • Deep experience with AWS (SageMaker, ECS/EKS, Lambda, ECR, CloudWatch, Step Functions). • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, AWS CDK). • Experience with CI/CD (GitHub Actions preferred). • Advanced SQL and Python skills for data pipelines, automation and ML workflows. • Experience with modern data stacks (Snowflake, dbt, Airbyte or similar). • Comfort working cross-functionally in a fast-moving, startup environment. Bonus Points • Experience in healthcare or other regulated domains. • ML monitoring tooling. • Experience building feature pipelines or supporting automated model retraining. • Exposure to genAI tooling and LLM platforms. • Startup or early-stage scaling experience. What Shapes Our Company • Deep commitment to one another, the people and communities we serve, and to care that enables everyone to achieve their best health. • Compassion and empathy. • Curiosity, and an eagerness to listen. • Drive to deliver high-quality experiences, clinical care and cost-effectiveness. • Strong focus on sustainability of our business and scalability of our services to maximize reach and impact. • Nurturing a diverse workforce with a wide range of backgrounds, experiences and points of view. • Taking our mission seriously but not taking ourselves too seriously-having fun as we build! Competitive salary, equity grant and generous paid time off. Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental & vision insurance with 100?% of monthly premium covered for employees. Company-sponsored 401(k) plan. The base salary range for this position is $160,000?-?$190,000 annually. Compensation may vary outside this range depending on qualifications, skills, location, competencies and experience. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work at Homeward Health. This role is eligible for an annual bonus, stock options and a comprehensive benefits package. Homeward is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
