This position is a vital part of our A319/A320/A321 Fleet Engineering Team within the Technical Operations Division. Our team plays a critical role in troubleshooting and resolving operational issues on transport category aircraft. As a Fleet Engineer, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive engineering support on various aircraft systems and improving associated reliability through strategic project management initiatives. This is a part-time remote position that offers flexibility while maintaining close collaboration with our on-site teams and stakeholders.

What You'll Do (Key Responsibilities)

As a Fleet Engineer L2 at arenaflex, you will be entrusted with significant responsibilities that directly impact our operational efficiency and safety standards. Your daily contributions will help ensure that our fleet operates smoothly and reliably. Here's what you can expect to do:

  • Stay Informed of Operations: Keep yourself thoroughly informed of day-to-day airline operations within your specific field of responsibility. This includes monitoring flight schedules, maintenance activities, and any emerging issues that may affect fleet performance.
  • Priority Assessment: Assess daily priorities in accordance with airline and departmental objectives, as well as management directives. You must be able to effectively balance multiple tasks and deadlines while maintaining attention to detail and quality.
  • Problem Investigation: Investigate aircraft and component problems that may cause aircraft delays or cancellations, substantial expenditures in manpower or materials, or interruptions in maintenance operations. Determine appropriate corrective actions in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Engineering Support: Provide comprehensive Engineering support as required for the disposition of discrepant conditions affecting aircraft or components. Your expertise will be crucial in restoring serviceable status and minimizing aircraft downtime.
  • Technical Assistance: Respond promptly to requests from Maintenance and other airline departments when technical assistance is required to support projects or resolve complex problems. Your knowledge will be instrumental in finding solutions.
  • Project Development: Develop action plans for fleet, multi-fleet, and component engineering projects. Pursue final dispositions according to assessed priorities, ensuring that all projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Cross-Departmental Coordination: Coordinate effectively with other airline departments, as required, to provide for effective and efficient implementation of engineering dispositions. Strong communication skills are essential for success in this role.
  • Documentation: Prepare detailed Engineering documents to implement technical dispositions by providing customized procedures for repairs, modifications, inspections, or other maintenance actions. All documentation must provide benefits in accordance with airline and departmental objectives.

Essential Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you must possess a combination of education, experience, and technical skills that demonstrate your ability to excel in aircraft engineering. We are looking for candidates who meet the following requirements:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field. Equivalent experience and qualifications will also be considered.
  • Aviation Experience: Demonstrated experience in aviation maintenance, engineering, or related technical operations. Familiarity with transport category aircraft is highly preferred.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of aircraft systems, including but not limited to propulsion, flight controls, avionics, and structural systems.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to make sound engineering decisions under pressure.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear and concise technical documentation.
  • Computer Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and aircraft maintenance tracking systems.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with FAA regulations, manufacturer specifications, and industry standards.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications will give you a competitive edge:

  • Previous experience working with A319, A320, or A321 aircraft families
  • Experience in fleet engineering or component engineering roles
  • Knowledge of reliability analysis and improvement methodologies
  • Project management certification or training
  • Familiarity with airline operations and maintenance scheduling
  • Experience with electronic documentation systems and technical publications
