Financial Aid Advisor

The Financial Aid Advisor provides comprehensive financial aid services, ensuring compliance with regulations and offering guidance on eligibility and funding options while delivering exceptional service across departments.
Responsibilities
- Counsel and advise students on financial aid eligibility, application procedures, aid programs, costs, billing processes, indebtedness, money management, and financial planning
- Determine student eligibility for Title IV aid and prepare student award packages
- Interpret and implement Federal Methodology, verification requirements, and institutional policies related to financial aid
- Provides exceptional service with compassion, clarity, and efficiency in helping students overcome any financial obstacles
- Participate in conferences, workshops, and training to maintain up-to-date knowledge of Title IV programs and compliance requirements
- Conduct quarterly outreach to students requiring action on document completion, loan acceptance, and funding options
- Provide backup support for the Financial Aid Office during staff absences, assisting with general inquiries and administrative tasks
- Perform office and clerical duties, including filing, answering calls, emails, and meeting with students virtually and in person
- Maintain accurate records and reports for audits and compliance purposes
- Perform other financial aid duties as assigned to support the overall goals of the institution
Skills
- Experience in student services, financial aid, or related administrative field
- General office management experience (phones, filing, calendar management, administrative duties)
- Customer service experience, preferably within student services
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with student information systems (e.g., ADP, PowerFAIDS, and J1 systems)
- High School Diploma/GED
- Associate's degree or higher, or any combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities
