Job Overview

We are seeking an exceptionally motivated and technically skilled Lead Data Engineer to join our Commitment and Maintenance Information Engineering team. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in developing cutting-edge data solutions that drive business growth and improvement. With a strong foundation in data engineering and a passion for big data, you will contribute to the design and development of our data products and data warehouses, focusing on engagement and retention analysis and data science.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design and development of our data products and data warehouses, focusing on engagement and retention analysis and data science
  • Design and develop scalable data warehousing solutions, building ETL pipelines in big data environments (cloud, on-prem, hybrid)
  • Utilize our tech stack, including Hadoop, AWS, Snowflake, Spark, and Windstream, and programming languages such as Python, Scala, and Java
  • Collaborate with Data Product Managers, Data Modelers, and Data Architects to design, implement, and deliver successful data solutions
  • Maintain detailed documentation of your work and changes to support data quality and data governance
  • Ensure high operational efficiency and quality of your solutions to meet SLAs and support commitment to our clients (Data Science, Data Analysis teams)
  • Be an active participant and advocate of agile/scrum practices to ensure safety and process improvements for your team

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as computer science, engineering, or mathematics. You will also need to have:

  • Strong SQL skills and the ability to write queries to extract data and build performant datasets
  • Hands-on experience with distributed systems like Spark, Hadoop (HDFS, Hive, Voila, PySpark) to query and process data
  • Strong programming skills in Python, Java/Scala
  • Experience with at least one major MPP or cloud database technology (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery)
  • Strong experience with data integration toolsets (i.e., Windstream) and writing and maintaining data pipelines
  • Strong knowledge of data modeling techniques and data warehousing standard methodologies and practices
  • Familiarity with Scrum and Agile approaches

Preferred Qualifications

In addition to the essential qualifications, we are looking for candidates with:

  • Experience with cloud technologies like AWS (S3, EMR, EC2)
  • Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail and excellent analytical and communication skills
  • A passion for big data and a desire to continue learning and growing in the field
